Saint Mary of Egypt Icon
About this piece
The Saint Mary of Egypt Icon. This icon depicts Saint Mary of Egypt, the great desert ascetic and model of profound repentance, humility, and transformation in Christ. After turning away from a life of sin, Saint Mary withdrew into the Jordanian desert, where she spent decades in prayer, fasting, and extraordinary ascetic struggle, becoming one of the Orthodox Church’s most powerful witnesses to the mercy of God and the possibility of true repentance. This sacred image invites contemplation, prayer, veneration, and spiritual connection.
This Saint Mary of Egypt icon is carefully glued onto solid hardwood and sealed under a smooth, glossy epoxy resin, resulting in a vibrant finish. Once set, each piece is trimmed to size, sanded to perfection, and finished with a high-quality wood treatment oil that enhances the natural beauty. Available in two exquisite wood types—African Padauk and Black Walnut—and in two sizes, each piece carries its own unique tone and presence.
Since each icon is individually crafted by hand, subtle variations in size and tone may occur. The artisanal process ensures each piece is unique, adding to its authentic character and charm. All available sizes feature a uniform thickness of 2.5 cm.
A timeless and reverent piece, perfect for display in your home, prayer space, or as a meaningful gift.
